                            <p>This codex was acquired by the Newberry Library in 1955,
                                before which time it resided in private hands in Vienna.
                                It is in fact the apparently lost manuscript that Coussemaker
                                called “Codex vindobonensis” (CS III, p. xxii) and used as a unique source for the
                                Ars perfecta (Psuedo-Vitry) and Anonymous VI (CS III, 398-403).  The copy
                                employed by Coussemaker for his edition was made for him in 1856 by Ferdinand Wolf,
                                an official of the former Kaiserliche Hofbibliothek in Vienna (see CS III, p. xv)
                                – the copy however was incomplete, only the first two chapters of Anon. VI’s
                                treatise are missing in Ch, while the first seven are omitted in CS III.</p></provenance>
